Future Homes Hub
New Home Environmental Metrics
The Future Homes Hub is a UK-based, not-for-profit organisation that unites homebuilders, housing associations, supply chains, and government to accelerate the transition to sustainable, low-carbon new homes and developments. Ian was the principal author of the Future Homes Hub's New Homes Environmental Metrics. Published in 2025, these provide a standardised framework for measuring and reporting on the sustainability of new homes, initially focusing on five core areas: Carbon, Energy, Water, Nature, and Waste. Developed with the homebuilding sector, these metrics offer a consistent, simplified language for developers, investors, and regulators to track environmental performance, support green finance, and meet evolving standards.
